Choosing The Vehicle That's Right For You.

You need personal transport, and it has to meet a certain criteria, and then the emotions kick in.  Which one do you choose?

Will you choose practical over emotions?

Here are a list of questions to help you decide what is right for you.

  • Can it do what you need it to do?
  • Does it meet your transport needs?
  • Can you afford to buy and insure it?
  • Does it require specialised servicing and will you be able to afford the repair costs?
  • How hard are the parts to obtain, are they readily available and affordable?
  • Fuel economy, the more power the more fuel.  Power or Economy?
  • Will it be garaged or left out on the street?
  • Will it be your first or second car?
  • Will it be used for on or offroad and how often?
  • Brand loyalty, what brand is right for you?

Have these questions helped you decide what your next vehicle will be?  Happy car hunting................

Holiday Motoring Tips

Christmas is around the corner and you're planning a road trip, things to consider before you go.

Ensure your vehicles servicing is up to date, and if it falls due during your trip, move the service forward.

With the servicing make sure it includes:

  • An oil and filter change; the transmission and steering are checked; all fluid levels are topped up.
  • Brake pads: Ensure they won't need replacing during your travels.
  • Brake fluid: How old is it, does it need replacing?  Are the brake hoses OK?
  • The cooling system: Does the coolant need replacing, is the thermostat and radiator OK?
  • Tyres: Are they wearing evenly?  Check tyre pressure including the spare.  Do the tyres need a wheel alignment and rotate and balance?
  • Check all belts and hoses, windshield wipers, batteries, and  all lights, including: brake lights, headlights, indicators and interior lights.
  • Warning:   Ensure there are no vehicle warning and reminder indicator lights on.

Other things you will need to check or do:

  • Check that you have all the necessary wheel changing equipment.
  • Restrain all loose items:  Avoid loose items entering into the cabin, stow articles in luggage compartment.
  • Over loading:  Check the load capacity in the owner's manual and ensure the load is distributed evenly.  Be sure to become familiar with the feel of the vehicle after loading.
  • Towing:  Check wiring, lights and towing hitch, tyres and pressure.  Make sure caravans are loaded correctly.
  • Child restraints:  Ensure child seats and retraints are fitted firmly and properly and they have not been in a previous accident.  Ensure that the child restraint harness is adjusted, checking that the thickness of two fingers can be inserted between the harness and the child's chest.

With all of this in check, we wish you a happy and safe holiday.

That's all for this month's edition.

In closing, we hope you have enjoyed this newsletter and look forward to some feedback
